Inspired by an ornate window from the early 19th century that graces one of the Providence Art Club galleries, YOU ARE HERE plays with ideas of glass as both transparent and reflective, of a window looking outside as well as decorating an interior. By using a lot of gold leaf smalti, this piece also takes on the feel of an icon, or a sacred space decorated with mosaic.
